Counting up your profits: How?
Accounting: does the very world make your eyes
revolve in your head? Fortunately, we have a Sharer
who can explain it to us, and who does!
Thanks to Deb at Castaways, a familiar name on
Sharing, for this simple intro to cash versus accrual
accounting.
Sigh. You need to know this stuff. Really.

You got questions? Auntie Kate's got answers
There are so many pages on the TGtbT site that it's
easy to miss some. Here's an
overview of info I think is particularly useful:Is
your appointment book getting too full? How long
should your consignment period be? Should you open
your new shop close to other resalers? These
questions are explored h
ere.
Some visits that Kate made to poor, unsuspecting shops. (And
on the same page, how to make your charity auction
gift certificate donation into a thing of beauty.)
A sign
wording that will make your life SO much easier
this fall. Wh
y you NEED my latest book, The
Picker Who Perished, a Consignment Shop Mystery, in
your shop.
Yes, there's many many days worth of reading on
Too Good to be Threw. All free to you... but please,
don't forget, this e-newsletter AND the site are paid
for by purchases from our Products
Page, our PDQ
Downloads & our on-line
MarketPlace. Please
consider making a purchase.

Making extra $$ to go to NARTS Conference 2006
The second in our year-long series of how to earn
enough extra in your shop to be able to go to NARTS
Conference 2006 in Atlanta. Yes, you can do this, no
matter how "new" you are, how "small" your town,
how "little" you make!
Each month, I will have a new page up on how you
can MAKE or SAVE AN EXTRA $100 Read your USED
every month to find the link to our monthly
suggestion!
I am doing this independently of NARTS. Why should I
bother? Because you should take
every opportunity to increase business knowledge,
and because NARTS meetings have proven to be an
easy, affordable,
profitable and fun way to do
that (Even more affordable: attend the
upcoming Fall
Meeting, a one-day "mini-conference"...this time,
I'll be part of
it!). Hurry on over to
this month's page I made up for you and see what
the second
suggestion is!
Missed last month's premier idea? Read about
it...and
a reader's real-life result...at Last Month's
Suggestion.

Thinking Outside the Box
We resalers are SO blessed with our modest budgets.
We simply cannot just throw money at a situation, so
we learn to use our imaginations.
So, if we cannot afford to be constantly, for
example, giving 20% discounts on purchases
(especially if our profit margins aren't much more than
that!), what can we do?
Think
Outside the Box! And that's what
Janet of Just Jewell's, a
plus-size shop in Indiana, did. I think you'll love her
fresh take on rewarding shoppers who spend a bit
more than the average. I know I loved it!
Our new
page, I hope, will grow with Outside the Box
ideas you'll share. Email me
and we'll add your great thought to our site.
Oh, yes. Our monthly "find your name on Kate's web
site and win a $10 gift certificate good for any TGtbT
Product for the Professional Resaler" contest. I got
out the dart board and picked two email names for
August, and if you'll click below...you may already
be a winner! Don't forget, claim your prize within
7 days of receiving this issue of Used ain't
seen nothin' yet!
Is it me? Let me see!
