Empty
Hangers Ladies Resale Shop in Lancaster, TX moved, spring
2007, to their town's historic town square. Those
extra windows up top? They'll be decorated with, what else, hangers
just as soon as the partners settle in. I especially like the way
the shoe area doubles as companion seating!
The
Closet Shop in New York opened October 2004 by Kelly
Nisiewicz. The shop features designer clothing, vintage pieces
and accessories from local artists.
Judy Johnson opened the 2nd location of Designer
Threads in Olean NY Spring 2006. The original shop is in
Bradford PA. Notice how Judy's done some creative reuse of an old
downtown store and used the shelving wisely!
Pattie Udstuen opened
Encore
in Indiana in Oct 2005 and moved to this location in May
2006. "I was really unsure if moving was a good idea this
soon....but it was the best thing we could have done! As we say: So many favorite stores all at one
address!"
Cedar
Closet (Illinois) owner Michelle Hepburn
writes in Jan. 2006: "I recently opened. I love your
website and I purchased your book.
I would never have been able to open my shop without your
book."
Xmas Maxon says: "The
Green Closet caters primarily to
young adults and vintage enthusiasts in Vermont. Opened summer
2005.We also have our own line of reconstructed clothing called Post
Decadent Reconstructed, the next generation in clothing
recycling."
Emily's
Closet of Georgia, specializing in children's and
maternity, opened September 2005.
Don't you love her color scheme? Fresh, modern, and not the least
"babyish".

Earthlings
is on Vancouver Island, off the West Coast of Canada.
Romona says: "I opened at the right time as many new businesses
are opening all around me. We have many thrift shops in town, 5 in
my vicinity. It's become a 2nd hand mecca. My shop features an
eclectic mix of new, vintage, and retro items for homes and gardens.
My window displays have been a draw as I create a scene such as
summer with the hammock. I'm starting to do a little buy outright,
consignment for local art."
Julie
Nichols of Duck Duck Goose,
Florida: "Here is a picture of my storefront for
back to school July 2005. The room that you see is changed out
weekly. More often than not it is usually a nursery, or toddler
bedroom."
Paula of Encore
Resale Fashions in Canton, OH, established in
1973, writes: Encore
features 11 rooms of clothing, shoes, jewelry and accessories. Encore
is known for its variety and selection.
Rosie
and Gina have Another Person's Treasure
in Nova Scotia. They opened August 2005 and buy their
merchandise by the bale. Upstairs, they are relocating their
30-minute ladies' gym so they'll have 8000 feet of business under
one roof. Jump over to Shopkeeping Fun
for an incredible picture of the ladies...
Twice
is Nice opened in Hartville OH in 2000. Owner Rose, after
working there almost from the start, purchased the shop in 2005. She
carries family clothing.
Smarty
Pants in Indiana was opened by Cathy Evans in mid-2005. I like
this photo because...it's got people in it!
The
shop's tag-line is "Giving clothes a 2nd chance."
Heidi
in Victoria BC writes that her mother-daughter operation A
to Z Kids Consignment has been going since 1999. "Love
the
work, the people, couldn't imagine doing anything else."
And
a palm tree grows in Victoria BC at Baja
Rosi's Consignment Cabana.
Carolyn says she has more palms and chili peppers to add to the
decor. Note the Cabana style change rooms
- there are seven - with thatched roofs and striped curtains.(Kate says: Love the mix-&-match chairs...and
could those be flowerpot lampshades?!?)
Don't
you love the wall colors... and note, too, that she needed extra
light in the hutch and provided it.
Kris:
"I
opened my baby/ child/ maternity shop, Marley and Me
in Ontario in July 2005. Here
are some photos of Marley and Me's Grand Opening! What a
success-over 300 people in attendance, and record breaking sales!
Our little friends were greeted by Dora the Explorer, and enjoyed
free hot dogs and cotton candy.."

Betcha
can't guess whose shop this is. Wendy Sam's.
