Too Good to be Threw, The Premiere Web Site for Consignment, Resale & Thrift shop owners

A title she has always aspired to... "Miss Five Points": Deb McDaniels of Revente and Sid & Nancy in Columbia SC writes on Oct 6 2007:

Hot dawg! Last night we celebrated the end of construction in 5 Points w/ a parade, music, fire eaters-you name it! Yours truly was elected "Miss 5 Points" & my good bud & employee, Savannah, treated me to a ride in her Duster in the parade! We had a blast!

How'd ya like to have this batch of weirdoes on YOUR payroll?
Melissa Baxter, owner of Back By Popular Demand, near Atlanta GA, says this was from "our first costume Ladies Night Out", but we have our doubts! The shop's been doing Ladies Nights Out since Jan 2003, but this October 2006 event was their largest yet!

CarolGrace's daughter and store manager,Grace says, "Granma, with the right accessories even PJs work!" Leslie, vamps for the camera, with a little help from her husband Adam and daughter Grace, who's the one in the PJs, right. CG's shop is Athens Consignment Center in Athens, AL.

What about this for a work outfit? No?Well, you SAID a little more formal might be good...Leslie and Adam goofin' around. (Kate's note: Scaring away customers?LOL)Another way to wear the season's accessories...

Click the small photos for larger versions... and run your mouse across them for (mostly) CarolGrace's commentary.

Sweet Cheeks: What a Smarty Pants Cathy is!

Could it be ANY cuter?Look what I got, guys! The most adorable purse made out of little girls' jeans... sashed and embellished and with a vintage pin and charms, and on the inside, another little charm... Cathy Evans makes these, sells them for $40 in her shop.  "I've been making the SWEET CHEEKS purses for a year or so, it's how I was introduced to resale. I had never been in a resale shop until I had the idea of making purses out of old jeans, but around Christmas when I had 30 orders to fill in 2 weeks, I visited every resale shop in the area. That is how SMARTY PANTS, my shop, was conceived...I was determined to have a cool little shop.

"Then I found TGTBT and then I knew that I could have the best shop around. My shop is financially doing very well, and trust me, I love that, but even better are the comments people make. When the third person in one day says mine is the nicest shop she has EVER been in, well, gosh, I just can hardly stop smiling!

"People flag me down in parking lots and grocery stores all the time...Where did you get that purse???!!! That's why I put biz cards in the back pocket, and by the way, chapstick goes in that little bitty pocket, and the front pockets are great for cell phones."

Castaways Concepts sale window was inspired by Deb McDaniel's ideas, which MIGHT have been inspired by mine...Here, a shot of Castaways Concepts ("Feminine Flair") Summer 2006 Sale Window. Note, too, their white vinyl lettering on the windows listing the categories/ sizes they carry. Deb got the idea from Deb of Revente who suggested it at Conference 2006.
