The Resalers' Financial Survey

What do others do, financially? What can you expect? Here are REAL, honest figures for your business planning and projected Profit & Loss statement, straight from REAL resalers across the country The Resalers' Financial Survey is an informal, small survey based on 1997 figures (the latest available). Average shop sizes, gross sales, expenses, even dollars per square foot!  What do other shops spend on advertising, rent, salaries, and so on? While these are not the latest figures, our studies show that the percentages hold true even today.  This comparison and planning tool will help fine-tune your shop. The Survey is 7 pages. Note, 2008, from Kate: While the actual dollar amounts reported in this survey may be low for the present time (however the last NARTS survey suggests that they are still quite applicable), the percentages are really the most important numbers. It’s a personal choice as to whether your shop (and thus your workload and involvement) will be small or large, but the percentage of gross sales that you spend on occupancy costs, advertising, and staffing should be held within the ballparks revealed here. Your net income, too, can be calculated as a percentage, and as a way to know if you are doing well or whether there are areas that need improvement.
