While this is a flower shop, isn't the layered look on the
sidewalk irresistible? Wouldn't it be great if you could do something like this?
If you're in an area that allows outdoor merchandising, if the climate
agrees,
and if you think it will draw attention and finally motivate those folks who
always say
Ya know I've driven by this place a hunnert times and just never stopped in
till today...
Think of how to adapt this layered look:
Furniture
Shops will have it easiest, with some tall pieces
(silk trees, floor lamps, sculpture on pedestals), medium height tables,
from sofa to coffee, and baskets/ crocks/ floor pieces.
Think about that jewel-tone area rug draped on a sofa table...
Childrenswear
Shops For height, use colorful clothes trees
(you will probably have to fasten the clothing hangers to the tree, to keep
them from blowing away in the wind.) Equipment and furnishings provide
the middle and low levels.
Womenswear
Shops Use two mannequins or dress forms to bracket
a low table with one t-stand or bust form. Now's the time to showcase
your brightest and boldest garments! Add silk trees and low planters
full of greenery for lush elegance.
This whole idea works almost as well
behind the glass, that is, as a "walk-in window"
display, where customers can
enter the area and browse.
Especially with the almost-full-height windows in strip malls. Makes your "display" even more exciting
when passers-by can see shoppers!
Notice one more thing about this shop:
the show windows and even the entry are outlined with tiny lights... and the
tiny lights are made more important with the use of garlanding. Garlands aren't
just for Christmas!
